They’re loud, relentless and annoying – the squeaky wheels of your business.
If running a business were easy, anyone and everyone would do it. But it’s not. Some of the most draining things are those that seem to come from left field; they scream out the loudest and chances are they will get your attention. But often they’re not the most important, yet we treat them as if they were.
Our cat, Pepé (named after the famed Pepé Le Pew) has an annoying habit of waking up at 4am and then wanting us to join him in his insomnia. We’ve tried to “train” him to stop, but he gets his way every time.
We love the little rascal and, frankly, we’re too soft to put him in his place. We have become Stepford Owners within our own household. We take care of his needs, but not our own!
Do you have “Pepés” in your business?
Chances are that you experience similar things in your business, the things that throw you off track – regardless of your own priorities; those distractions that you feel compelled to feed, even at the expense of your own priorities.
Maybe it’s the employee that constantly brings problems to your door (convenient for them – not you), or your Pavlovian response to the chime of emails, or even incoming calls that you “must” take. The list could go on forever.
These are the distractions – the killers of your time – your most precious resource! Compounded over days/weeks/months – It’s a BIG loss.
The cure…
Stay true to your Vision, which will dictate your priorities
Set quarterly Rocks to stay focused on your priorities
Learn to say “no” to distractions and shiny objects
Re-set every 90 Days
Above all…be cognizant of your “Pepé Le Pews”. They can keep you from what’s most important!

I have met Pepe what a love! Funny how the cute ones get you distracted right:) It is hard to stay on track but learning EOS has been so helpful to us and our company – We are much better at staying on track and not getting squirreled! Thanks for all your help!

Thanks Nancy – your team has really accelerated through the process. It’s been a pleasure working with you and witnessing the tremendous growth first-hand. By the way…Pepe has been sleeping in until 5:30am the past few weeks. What a luxury! 🙂
