Last year around this time, I wrote a blog with a similar title (What’s your “one thing” in 2015). The names are similar, but the premises are not.
Now, at year-end, I’m urging you to identify the “one thing” that will make the greatest impact on your business in 2016. Another way of looking at this is to ask yourself what’s the #1 issue that you can address in your business that will offer BIG GAIN in the upcoming year?
When I explore this with my clients, people related issues often surface – either the need to hire or fire them.
One client held off hiring an Integrator for his business and continued as both the Visionary and Integrator for his business. He was best suited as Visionary, but for years served as Integrator because he didn’t think he had the “luxury” to hire someone for this role. As the business grew, his “excuse” shifted to lack of trust, i.e. no one could really grasp the business like he did.
His inability to “delegate and elevate” clearly held the business back. But last year he decided it was time. The new Integrator is now in place and their progress together has already accelerated, with operations running more smoothly and a newfound freedom for him to be a true visionary – carving the path for a prosperous future!
Another client identified their “one thing” as the need to implement a comprehensive CRM system for their sales and customer service departments. They had been operating the same for years, i.e. using miscellaneous spreadsheets, file folders and holding random meetings to stay on track. Unfortunately, they had outgrown their “system” several years back and were starting to see the ill effects of lost opportunities and declining customer service.
The new system was identified this past quarter and is now scheduled for implementation within the first quarter of 2016. Needless to say, they expect this to make a huge impact throughout the year.
What’s your “one thing” for 2016? You probably know it but may need to put a stake in the ground and then begin to execute.
Now that is ONE THING worth celebrating…Happy New Year!
